In a bustling city in the heart of Newcastle, a passionate individual named Simon Drummond is on a mission to revolutionise mental health support. At the age of 32, Simon’s life journey has been a unique blend of diverse interests and experiences, all of which have culminated in the creation of an innovative social network app called Unaeon.
With a background in Photography, Digital Media, and Teaching, Simon’s creative and empathetic spirit led him to embark on a venture that would help make a difference in the lives of countless individuals facing mental health challenges. Drawing from his own personal struggles with accessing adequate mental health services, Simon was motivated to build a platform that could bridge the gap between those in need and the resources they so desperately seek.

Unaeon, pronounced as “union,” is a labour of love that Simon and his multicultural team of 9 members from various corners of the world are diligently working on. The team operates remotely, with bases in the UK and Europe, Canada, and Asia. Together, they have a shared vision of creating a compassionate community where users can become peer supporters for one another.

The heart of Unaeon lies in its mission to combat loneliness and suffering by fostering a network of like-minded individuals who truly listen and understand each other’s experiences. Simon firmly believes that healing begins when individuals feel heard and supported, especially by those who can relate to their struggles. For him, every person’s story matters, and every individual has something valuable to give to this world.

When Unaeon launches later this year, it will provide a lifeline of hope to those seeking solace and support. The app’s feature-rich design encompasses various tools aimed at nurturing users’ mental wellbeing. From journaling and support groups to a “make a friend” feature that matches like-minded souls, Unaeon strives to be an all-inclusive platform where individuals can find a sense of belonging.
In addition to the essential mental health resources and meditation tools, Unaeon doesn’t forget to sprinkle in some fun. Users can indulge in relaxing games like sudoku and checkers, providing a moment of respite in challenging times. Moreover, the app encourages self-expression through the ability to post text, photos, and videos, fostering an atmosphere of openness and vulnerability.

Simon’s passion for gardening and love for quirky sunflowers seem to be mirrored in the app’s growth as well. Unaeon’s development is a continuous process, with the team fine-tuning its design to ensure it caters to the diverse needs of its users. Despite being a work in progress, Simon remains optimistic that the app’s core features will remain intact, ready to bring a positive impact to people’s lives.

As Unaeon readies itself for launch, excitement is building among those eagerly awaiting its arrival. Simon and his team have extended an invitation to join their mailing list to keep abreast of the app’s progress. They recognise that their journey is not a solitary one, and they welcome the support and interest of others who share their vision of a more compassionate and empathetic world.
Simon adds. “If you want to join our community of kindness and help shape the future of mental health support, you can sign up for our mailing list at http://unaeon.com/#Mailing . We’d love to have you as part of our Unaeon family.”

Simon’s dedication to Unaeon stems from his own lived experiences, fuelled by a desire to spare others from the anguish he endured while seeking help. His passion is palpable, and his mission is clear – to make mental health support accessible, effective, and free from the constraints of waiting lists and underfunding.
“We’re aiming to revolutionise mental health support together and make it accessible to everyone. We want to create a world where kindness and an understanding of mental health are the norm.” Simon reflects. “The positive feedback and belief in what we’re doing, expressed by others, have only served to strengthen our conviction in the significance of what we are building together”.

So, as the days inch closer to the end of the year, keep an eye out for Unaeon’s grand debut on Android phones, tablets, and the web. The app promises to be a beacon of light for those navigating the complexities of mental health and a testament to the power of technology and compassion combined.
Simon Drummond’s journey with Unaeon is more than just a story; it is a testament to the human spirit’s resilience and empathy. As we eagerly await its arrival, let us remember that within each of us lies the potential to be a healer and a friend to someone in need. Together, we can build a world where everyone’s wellbeing is nurtured, and no one has to face their struggles alone. Unaeon is more than an app; it’s a movement toward a brighter and kinder tomorrow.
