It’s January, and you know what that means – it’s the beginning of a New Year and it’s the perfect opportunity to embrace a healthier lifestyle. So, dust off those running shoes, stretch those hamstrings and clock up some miles on that step counter. But wait, there’s more! We’ve got something to totally motivate you.
We’re calling on everyone to start tracking the distance of every journey they make, whether it’s a quick dash to the local shops or a leisurely stroll along Tynemouth Beach. Every collective mile counts as we aim to walk 6500 miles from Newcastle to the Kimbilio Project in the Democratic Republic of Congo. This ambitious challenge serves not only to raise awareness but also to gather much-needed funds for the Kimbilio Project, enabling them to continue providing hope and support to the most vulnerable children in the country.
Did you know that an estimated 250,000 children are living on the streets in the Democratic Republic of Congo? They endure a life without the support and guidance of loving parents, forming their own communities as a means of protection and survival. Despite being one of the wealthiest countries in the world in terms of natural resources, its inhabitants rank among the poorest and most exploited on earth.

The Kimbilio Project, situated in Lubumbashi, D.R. Congo, is committed to “helping children build a future with hope.” Through their day center, they tirelessly work to support and rebuild the lives of street-connected children, offering them the tools and opportunities needed for a brighter future.
From January to April 2024, we’re setting our sights on achieving this remarkable goal, but we can’t do it alone. We need as many people as possible to log every mile they walk, run, swim, cycle, or use wheelchairs and mobility scooters. With 6500 miles ahead of us, we invite you to ask your friends and family to contribute to this extraordinary journey.
Let’s lace up our shoes, hop on our bikes, and collectively make a positive impact in 2024! Thank you for joining us on this inspiring journey.
