The Photographers

At the heart of the ‘Wey Aye Lego Man’ project are the neurodivergent photographers, whose unique perspectives have been instrumental in shaping a narrative that goes beyond traditional art forms. Supported by Ngage, New Beginnings, and Visual Voice, this collaboration stands as a testament to their commitment to the exhibition. By employing Lego as a visual communication medium, these artists have provided a glimpse into their world, challenging conventional perceptions and promoting a deeper understanding of neurodiversity.

We All Love Lego!

Lego, a cherished part of many childhoods, transforms magnificently in this project. It’s not just a toy; it’s a shared memory, a universal symbol of creativity that resonates with us all. In ‘Wey Aye Lego Man’, these familiar bricks evolve into a powerful language, a tool for expression that goes beyond the confines of words. The profound beauty of these Lego portraits lies in their ability to offer us a glimpse into the world as seen through the artists’ eyes, urging us to broaden our perspectives and connect more deeply with individuals who experience life differently. This initiative not only taps into our collective nostalgia for Lego but also demonstrates how these childhood playthings can evolve into potent tools for storytelling and connection in the present.

Doors Were Closed to Us!

‘Wey Aye Lego Man’ is not merely an art project; it’s a crusade championing the cause of neurodiverse individuals in the creative realm. Our journey began in 2023 with a vision, but the path to realising it was not without its hurdles. Seeking a gallery to showcase our work, we found doors closed to us, our requests unheeded by many art galleries. This challenge, however, only fuelled our determination to think creatively, mirroring the very essence of our project. In a stroke of fortune, Ouseburn Farm opened its doors to us, offering a beautiful gallery space for our debut exhibition. It was a testament to our belief that where there’s a will, there’s a way. Now, as we prepare for this year’s exhibition, we’re thrilled to be hosting it at the prestigious John Marley Centre. This transition from a meeting room to a renowned cultural centre is symbolic of our growth and the increasing recognition of the need for diverse voices in art. It’s a movement that challenges the norm, demanding a shift in perspective and igniting change in the world of art.
