Calling All Artists to LEGO and Have Fun!

In 2023 and 2024, the ‘Wey Aye Lego Man’ exhibition in Newcastle upon Tyne brought to light the extraordinary talents of neurodivergent artists from the North East. The exhibition featured captivating photography that celebrated the distinct creativity and viewpoints of these artists, as seen in their stunning portraits of Lego mini-figures.

As we look forward to the May 2025 exhibition, we are thrilled to extend an invitation to working artists from across the Northeast and the entire UK to join us in this transformative endeavour by personalising pocket-sized Lego Man statues in your own artistic style. By taking part you will play a pivotal role in a powerful collective exhibition that champions diversity and inclusion.

Showcase Your Art in the 2025 Exhibition

Each participating artist will receive a blank Lego Man statue to transform into a unique work of art that will then be displayed alongside Lego portraits created by our talented neurodivergent artists, creating a vibrant and diverse showcase of talent and creativity.

The 2025 exhibition hosted by One Strawberry Lane in Newcastle city centre is set to transcend traditional art celebrations, focusing on Lego as a medium for social change and support for neurodivergent artists. After the exhibition, your bespoke Lego statues will be auctioned, with all proceeds directed towards initiatives that bolster neurodiverse artists and foster greater inclusivity in the arts.

This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact through your art. By participating, you will not only showcase your creativity but also help raise awareness and funds for a vital cause.

We All Love Lego!

Lego, a cherished staple of many childhoods, is beautifully reimagined in this project. More than just a toy, Lego represents a shared memory and a universal emblem of creativity that resonates with everyone. In ‘Wey Aye Lego Man’, these familiar Lego mini-figures are transformed into a powerful means of expression, transcending the limitations of language.

The true beauty of these Lego portraits lies in their ability to provide a window into the world as perceived by the artists, challenging us to expand our viewpoints and deepen our connection with those who experience life differently. This initiative not only rekindles our collective nostalgia for Lego but also showcases how these childhood treasures can become impactful instruments of storytelling and connection today.
