Celebrating Creative Brilliance and Neurodiversity

Wey Aye LEGO Man has continuously championed the creativity and unique perspectives of neurodivergent artists through its innovative photography exhibitions and creative collaborations. Building on its successful legacy, the upcoming 2025 exhibition will take creativity to new heights, pairing vibrant LEGO-themed photography by neurodivergent artists with bespoke LEGO statues crafted by renowned UK-based artists. The result promises to be a captivating display of creativity, imagination, and inclusivity, eagerly anticipated by visitors from across the region.

Recognition at the Highest Level

Winning the Markel 3rd Sector Care Award recognises the project’s transformative impact in advocating for neurodiverse individuals and their artistic contributions. During the judging process, the passion and clarity demonstrated by artists such as Tracey deeply impressed the panel, highlighting not only the artistic excellence planned for this year’s exhibition but also its profound personal and community impact.

This accolade is particularly meaningful as it acknowledges the barriers Wey Aye LEGO Man has overcome. From early challenges in finding gallery spaces to eventually hosting exhibitions at iconic venues such as Ouseburn Farm, the John Marley Centre, and One Strawberry Lane, this journey symbolises perseverance, innovation, and a firm belief in the importance of diverse voices in the arts.

Commenting on their success, Rachel Spencer, Director at Ngage North East Ltd said:

“We’re incredibly proud to win the Creative Arts award and to have had the opportunity to be among so many inspiring individuals and groups who make up the not-for-profit care sector. Winning this award is a fantastic recognition of the Wey Aye Lego Man Exhibition and the power of creativity to break down barriers. Art should be accessible to everyone, and this project has shown that with the right opportunities, anyone can engage, express themselves, and be part of something extraordinary. We hope this inspires more people to explore the arts and see that creativity knows no limits”.
