Sign Up for Your Customisable LEGO Minifigure Statue and Be Part of Wey Aye LEGO Man 2026
The Wey Aye LEGO Man Photography Exhibition has captured hearts and imaginations since its launch in 2023. What began as a local project in Newcastle has since become an award-winning national showcase, shining a light on the creativity of neurodivergent artists and people with learning disabilities.

Earlier this year, the project was recognised at the Markel 3rd Sector Care Awards, where it was celebrated as a shining example of how creativity and inclusion can change lives. Judges described it as “simple but profoundly impactful” – a testament to what is possible when art is used as a bridge, not a barrier.

From light-painting to Tesla coil experiments, every exhibition has shown that LEGO photography isn’t just playful – it’s powerful. Each portrait tells a story, offering a glimpse into how different minds see and experience the world. Artists as young as 11 and as old as 70 have brought their unique visions to life through LEGO minifigures, proving that creativity has no age limit.
And now, you can play your part…
Call for Artists: Customise Your Own LEGO Figure
As we look ahead to Wey Aye LEGO Man 2026 – taking place in May at One Strawberry Lane, Newcastle – we’re once again inviting artists from across the UK to join in by customising your very own LEGO minifigure statue.

Here’s how it works:
- Sign up and you’ll receive a blank LEGO minifigure statue (6cm x 9cm) in the post in January 2026.
- Transform it into a unique piece of art – paint it, sculpt it, dress it, re-imagine it in your style. From quirky costumes to bold designs, the only limit is your creativity.
- Return to us using the stamped address envelope provided and your finished figure will be exhibited alongside incredible LEGO-themed photography created by neurodivergent artists.
This is more than an exhibition – it’s a collective act of creativity and inclusion. Every customised figure adds to a growing tapestry of voices, stories and perspectives.

Why Take Part?
By signing up, you’ll:
✨ Showcase your creativity in a groundbreaking national exhibition.
✨ Stand in solidarity with neurodivergent artists whose work is breaking down barriers in the arts.
✨ Help raise awareness and celebrate diversity, inclusion and creativity.
✨ Become part of a community where LEGO is the universal language that connects us all.

Rachel Spencer, Director of Ngage NE Ltd, shared:
“Every time we host Wey Aye LEGO Man, we’re blown away by the imagination and individuality people bring. The customise statues add such a special energy, they showed that no two voices, no two perspectives, are ever the same. That’s what makes this exhibition so powerful.”
