Wey Aye LEGO Man is Back – and 2027 is Going to Be Belta!

North East art lovers, LEGO fans and champions of creativity – Wey Aye LEGO Man is back for 2027!

Returning to One Strawberry Lane in Newcastle for its fourth annual exhibition, Wey Aye LEGO Man continues to grow from a small creative idea into an award-winning celebration of neurodivergent photography, imagination and inclusion.

But in 2027, we’re looking at the bigger picture.

After another fantastic exhibition in 2026, this year is about taking Wey Aye LEGO Man beyond the exhibition walls – getting more people involved, exploring new places, developing new photography skills and giving even more neurodivergent artists the opportunity to see their creativity celebrated.

🏆 From an Idea to an Award-Winning Exhibition

Wey Aye LEGO Man began in 2024, with its first exhibition held at Ouseburn Farm in Newcastle.

The idea was simple: put LEGO minifigures into the hands of neurodivergent photographers and see the world from a completely different perspective.

LEGO minifigures can provide an accessible and playful way to create characters, tell stories and express ideas. For photographers who may not feel comfortable being in front of the camera themselves, the minifigure can become the star – placed in unusual situations, taken on adventures and photographed against the backdrop of the real world.

What began as a small exhibition quickly grew.

In 2025, Wey Aye LEGO Man moved to One Strawberry Lane, raising £1,909.65 through its silent auction and going on to win the Creative Arts Award at the 2025 Markel 3rd Sector Care Awards.

In 2026, the exhibition returned bigger and more ambitious than ever, bringing together LEGO photography by neurodivergent artists alongside customised minifigures and large-scale LEGO-inspired artwork created by professional artists.

Now, in 2027, the adventure continues.

🌍 What’s New for 2027?

This year, Wey Aye LEGO Man is all about expanding the world around the minifigure.

Throughout the year, our photographers have been getting out and about, taking LEGO minifigures beyond the studio and into the streets and landmarks of Newcastle.

Our LEGO Photography Walkabouts encourage photographers to explore their surroundings, discover unusual perspectives and transform familiar places into miniature worlds.

From the Quayside and Newcastle’s iconic landmarks to unexpected corners of the city, our photographers are proving that you don’t need to travel to a galaxy far, far away to find an adventure.

Sometimes, you just need a minifigure and a camera.

📸 Neurodivergent Photographers at the Heart of It

The most important part of Wey Aye LEGO Man has always been the people behind the camera.

The 2027 exhibition will once again shine a spotlight on photography created by neurodivergent people and people with learning disabilities, providing a professional platform where their work can be seen, valued and celebrated.

Our photographers experiment with an ever-growing range of creative techniques – from macro photography and dramatic high-speed splashes to long-exposure light painting, colourful pop-art-inspired images and outdoor photography.

There are no rules about what a LEGO photograph should look like.

Every photographer brings their own interests, humour, imagination and perspective – and that’s exactly what makes Wey Aye LEGO Man so special.

🤝 Growing Our Creative Community

Wey Aye LEGO Man has never been about just one group of artists.

Over the years, the exhibition has brought together neurodivergent photographers, people with learning disabilities, schools, community organisations, professional artists and creative groups from across the North East and beyond.

For 2027, we want that community to grow even further.

We want to discover new photographers, welcome new organisations and create more opportunities for neurodivergent artists to get involved – whether they’re experienced photographers or picking up a camera for the very first time.

Because sometimes all it takes is one shared interest to bring people together.

And for us, that shared interest happens to be LEGO.

💡 More Than Just LEGO

At first glance, Wey Aye LEGO Man might look like an exhibition about LEGO minifigures.

Look a little closer, and you’ll discover something much bigger.

It’s about creativity.

It’s about confidence.

It’s about developing new skills.

It’s about meeting people and exploring new places.

And it’s about giving neurodivergent people and people with learning disabilities a platform where their creativity isn’t simply included – it’s the main attraction.

LEGO becomes a tool for storytelling and a way of seeing familiar places from completely new perspectives.

A tiny figure can tell a big story.

But we’re only getting started.

In 2027, we’re continuing to explore.

Continuing to experiment.

Continuing to welcome new photographers and artists.

And continuing to prove that sometimes the biggest ideas can come from the smallest figures.

Wey Aye LEGO Man 2027.

A bigger picture. A growing community. A whole new world of miniature adventures.

And, as always… it’s going to be purely belta. 🙌
